Neighbor's chicken escaped. I caught it. Now what?
“I heard the noise and found it on the porch.”
Wait, you invited it in? Don’t you think you are sending mixed messages?
Choke it.
(Bet you saw that one coming.)
Just wing it....
That was a terrible thing to say. My stomach hurts now from laughing.
GMTA!
My gosh! No!
Calling the wildlife rescue or animal control means government agent.
Don’t feed it rice, especially uncooked rice.
Chickens love vegetables.
I’m laughing at myself. I’ve had raccoons, fox, stray dogs and cats wandering around, I just figured the chicken wasn’t gonna last long. A hawk was eyeing the group a few days ago. Owls are around, too.
“Dam thing actually banged on the screen door or pecked it. I heard the noise and found it on the porch.”
I doubt that any chicks will ever end up in my bed. But if they do, I’ll remember that line if my wife asks!”
“survive the elements for a night”
Lots of coyotes, hawks, fox, and owls in the area.
There are always ‘lost cat’ lost dog’ signs.
Greatest vanity EVER!
Please move to “breaking”.
You sound like a neighborhood where I live...and I’m IN TOWN! LOL! It’s a rural area on the outskirts, tho, and I love it! We gat ALL sorts of critters. When I was growing up in the country.......our neighbor’s goats would appear in our back yard. Had to escort them back. ;-) They were bootleggers.
I have hens. I would leave in garage. No food necessary for one night. Put out some water. The hen would probably not survive a night out.
I haven’t read the whole thread yet and I’m almost certainly not the first to say it but it bears repeating: Chickens are food. So there is one correct answer for you.
x 2 on the animal control, but wildlife rescue isn’t usually government affiliated except they might get funds- or at least the one here isn’t. I’m pretty sure they are liberals, though.
That sounds vaguely familiar re vegetables. I had 2 roosters growing up. Big old Leghorns. They were Easter chicks that grew up.
“our neighbors goats would appear in our back yard”
Yes, but then would you invite it in, and seek online advice as to how to make it feel comfortable?
UPDATE!
neighbors home. 13 dead, one missing, out of 25. Culprit escaped. hawk or owl in nearby trees. I am promised some free eggs from the survivors. Permanent coop to be built ASAP
