Platypuses? How about "platypodes" as with octupus/octopodes?
The should name the frogs that mate in the rain after Cato the Elder. At least according to Plutarch, Cato would make love to his wife whenever there was a storm.

Archer named the species "Platypus Godzilla" because it was up to twice the size of the modern platypus, growing up to three feet long.Or did he name it because it made a great headline and could raise his prestige and funding? Amazing what you can do with a single tooth.
