Dressed in Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman Halloween costumes.
A Massachusetts woman was reportedly fired after racially insensitive images surfaced online of her sons dressed as Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman for Halloween.
Caitlin Cimeno reportedly posted photos of her sons, William Filene and Greg Cimeno, with the caption: "Happy Halloween from Zimmerman & trayvon (insert smiley face emoji here)," according to a piece by Myeisha Essex at BlackAmericaWeb.
Following the outrageous post, members of the social media world not only tracked her down, but eventually also her employer, who told a caller that she no longer worked there, reports show.....

People are free to condemn her, and her employer was free to fire her. The problem is that those "freedoms" only work in one direction. Try firing someone for mocking a conservative Icon and see how fast it becomes a lawsuit.

How does anyone track the Twits on twitter? Are their IP addresses attached publicly to their postings?

I'm not a lawyer but as far as I know, most private-sector jobs in the US are "at will" - the employer can terminate employment for any reason, and the employee can terminate employment for any reason. Neither has to show just cause, with the exception of discrimination on the basis of sex, race, etc.
Someone fired for mocking a conservative icon would be just as SOL as this woman. If you want to mock a subject involving the death of a human being, that's your First Amendment right. But the First Amendment does not obligate your employer to defend the things you say, or take a financial loss for you.

We did that one time as kids and the driver got out and chased us two blocks on foot.
The only thing that saved us was when we pulled that rope again and he stopped ... again.

But, hanging an effigy of Sara Palin, a mother of a disabled child, is considered acceptable.

I remember hearing on the radio how a black woman mocked the assasination attempt on Ronald Reagan—at her place of work!

Yet a union employee can commit all manner of infractions — on the job — and the union will defend the employee and insist that he not be fired. And if he is fired, the next time the contract is renegotiated, the union will insist that the employee be rehired.

Because, some folks are too sponge-spined to stick up for another's right of free speech and expression.
