Of course SS is an entitlement. I’ll never collect on it, so it’s not “mine”. We’re broke, so I’ll not be able to be dependent on any entitlement program.

That’s the danger with government entitlement payment dependency - when we recognize we’re broke, the checks stop. It is a mathematical certainty that they will stop - it’s just the date that is debatable.

You should have a plan “B” for that.

And for the record, I would like to add this tidbit of info. Between my dad, two brothers and now my wife, there are over one hundred working years that were paid into SS. My wife is the only one to receive benefits, the others died prematurely.
