And how many of them would we actually hire, if we actually had a choice?

From the article:
"We dont do our jobs for glory, or money or power. We do them and do them well because we take pride in our work and pride in representing the United States of America". I call BS; outside the military I have yet to meet a government worker who wasn't in it for glory, money, power or the security of a government pension.

we are a primary reason why the United States remains as great as it is. Wow. That is positively delusional.

State Dept employee: "
We are not a drain on the national economy; rather, we are a primary reason why the United States remains as great as it is." Nonsense. They have aided and abetted al Qaeda.
They armed al Qaeda.
And they have made Americans their enemy.

When I visited DC, I realized how widespread and deep the prosperity is there.
The men wear 1000 dollar suits, and the women 400 dollar dresses, handbags, and shoes.

Tell that to the NPS Rangers who just disobeyed orders and allowed WWII vets into their memorial for the second straight day.

Undoubtedly true in some regards, but these are the kinds of people who make their own processes almost impossibly dense. Any military mission nowadays is typically fairly easy to get done. The really difficult part is navigating the related bureaucracies for funding, approval, communications, security, etc.

Even those who are truly essential are a drain on the economy. Its not an attack, its a basic law of economic physics.

Since the vast majority of the federal government is well outside the limits of the Constitution, it stands to reason that so are the vast majority of federal employees.
