To: My Favorite Headache

Yeah, I’m just perplexed by the silence of Drudge on the Kenya mall shooting. During my work day, I usually try to check Drudge on my phone once or twice just to keep myself apprised of anything interesting or breaking news. Imagine my surprise when the day ended and I had time to check other sources, and there was this HUGE story about mass killings, including dead Americans, that Drudge ignored.

Days later, and he’s still ignoring the story. At this point it goes beyond “we didn’t think it was newsworthy” to being downright suspicious, as if there’s some reason he doesn’t WANT it to be covered more prominently.

I don’t buy the idea that he’s not putting up links to it because it’s being well covered everywhere else. Since when has that ever stopped Drudge (or Curl) from linking to big breaking news stories?

The fact that it *did* show up at the very outset (I missed it, but saw it in the archive) and was quickly removed is telling. Normally a Drudge headline gets bumped down when something bigger comes along, but that original link is still there on the right column for a couple days. And especially with breaking stories, there are updates to the original story, and links to other news sources with different angles, etc.

This is the kind of story I would have expected to be on Drudge, and it’s not. That’s VERY weird. I’ve lost a lot of trust and respect for Drudge based on this experience.

I am with you on this one — maybe he got a note from someone warning him to not “hype” terrorist activities, or else.... There is no way he would miss this.
