Men lose interest in fashion trends and being 'cool' at the age of 46, a new survey has revealed.
But women put the effort in for a full 13 years longer - focusing on their appearance and general fitness until at least age 59.
The research also found women were nearly twice as likely to lack confidence in their image, with more than one third unable to claim they were at least content with their appearance.
It also emerged one third of the 2,000 men and women who took part in the study blamed a lack of happiness in contributing to their low confidence levels in the way they look.
More than half of those surveyed said they aren't in great shape physically while a third admit they have never been the type to bother with doing exercise.
Another third stop caring about the food they eat and how much alcohol they drink.

Emergency. Send in the 60s psychedelic mindwash chick.
Thanks! Yes she did. I put together a slideshow over the years (from 1918!). Lots of cool old photos. I was showing her what I was putting together, and mentioned how she was the prettiest one in all the photos. (She was!)
I asked her if she knew how pretty she was back then. “Oh, I didn’t think I was that pretty - I thought I was skinny.” She stayed skinny too. There is a photo of her at her sister’s 50 wedding anniversary party, and my mom is wearing her floor length, slim-fitting red dress with arm-length matching red gloves. And with no alterations! (As you can tell, a child of the Depression that held onto things!) Oh - and the 50 year-old dress was still in style!
And anywhere half-way formal (dinner date, church, going on a trip) she always had a hat on. “Oh - I loved hats!”
Please allow us our delusions...

By 46, men lose interest in having gay fashion designers tell them what to wear. We’ve gotten the suits we need, and are content with jeans and polo shirts in informal occasions.
So if you saw me, or any other male, at the hardware store, wearing shorts, you wouldn’t “appreciate” it.
Well, I hope you always go out with your head covered.
Give us a review.
I think I lost interest in fashion trends around 20 years old.
I can’t.
There’s no words to describe it.
And if I give a review, I might actually give some clues away.
The ending was.............. different.
“fashion trends = vanity”
Yup.
Everyplace else? Not so much.
