How far do they have to look? On this site alone we have had one crap racist comment after another. Miss Indian-America, Miss 7-11 America, She’s dark skinned and has a funny name so she must be Muslim, can’t we choose a white girl anymore, she’s not even very pretty. CNN should just come over here and do cut and paste. I am as concerned as anyone about the devolution of society, but a beautiful, american born 24 y/o women of indian descent, with a dean’s list degree from a great university in a science discipline from an intact family, whose parents immigrated to have a better life is not the problem. In fact I would argue that some of those throwing around the racist comments are a bigger issue. She had great answer to her question last night, ‘today’s Miss America doesn’t necessarily look like Miss America from 10 years ago, and ten years from now she will look different from today. The country is changing deal with because if we don’t bring some of the non-white demographics into the conservative fold we and the country are toast. Throwing out racial slurs at a drop of a hat is not productive.
Sorry, but she isn’t very pretty compared to a lot of college girls. That has often been a problem with these beauty pageants, so it is not racist to point it out.

I’ve known several Americans of Indian descent over the years and none of them ran a 7-11, none were Muslims, two were Catholic in fact and none of them were dirty or smelled bad; one was a doctor, one was an architect, one was an electrical engineer, one was a software engineer and I currently work with a gal who was born in India but she is quite Americanized in dress and in attitude, very bright, very hard working. She has an engineering degree which she received while still living in India before she got married and she and her husband, who is in finance, moved to the states but she’s now in employer benefits administration.
