ARLINGTON, Va. Cyber security for the federal government must be beefed up and agencies need to do a better job of understanding various threats, a panel of former homeland security officials and lawmakers said during a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing Sept. 11. This cyber threat is not new or emerging, Thomas Ridge, former secretary for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told legislators. Ridge said he shares the concerns of others that the U.S. will soon be visited by a Cyber Pearl Harbor-type of attack, adding that the issue is not whether government and private-sector leaders recognize the threat but rather what will be done about it. In the cyber realm, the U.S. government from the White House and Department of Defense to the U.S. Congress itself has been unable to prevent many attacks on its systems, Ridge said.

Yep. The biggest threat to the government is their own employees when they wake up and realize what their employer is really up to.
