The vast majority of stories posted here that support conservative positions or trash liberals/progressives are from publications that only conservative minded people read. It makes FR kind of an echo chamber, in that, no or very few minds will be changed unless the articles posted here start showing up in the popular media of big city newspapers and network television. I wish it was different, but alas, it isn't
FR is a wonderful clearinghouse of info and articles that can be reposted to places like twitter where maybe - just maybe - it will be read by someone not usually exposed to the truth.
Hey maybe we like it here in the echo chamber. :-)
Your vanity post is interesting, though.
Interesting.
You get to be the keeper of:
The Atlantic
Huffington Post
Daily Worker
Al Jazeera
Paris Match
Wonkette
Cornel West
Hillary Clinton

Communication is a wonderful thing.
When you are speaking the same language or know the same things to be true.
Truth and concepts of truth tend to be expressed in ways that hope for feedback from other like-minded individuals that will build a meaningful dialog.
As an example.
I was online during one of 0bamas speeches, I posted the comment “I’ll give you fish”, granted, it is an obscure lyric from a punk band, but I got a few, LOL’s and some dialogue. Maybe a bad example, however I hope you understand the environment that we are dealing with.
My point is, establishing the baseline of “I get it” with the ability to move the conversation in a constructive way is very challenging, both here and in life.
It’s not just FR, although I wish FR wasn’t part of this phenomenon. It’s virtually everywhere you go and try to talk to people.
People are busy, people have their opinions and they want to be heard. Very few people are willing to entertain the ideas of others. They may read and hear the commentary of their political leaders, but only to formulate their own position. Never, is there the type of interaction necessary to vet out your own ideas without running into a brick wall.
Frustrating, to say the least.
Blast. You beat me. And I hurried.
that looks decidedly unhealthy
I have to disagree with the lumping of my posts ‘mocking’ liberal positions as being part of an echo chamber.
I’ve been banned before for not toeing the line.
I get your point, but sheesh: If web articles/posts, conservative or otherwise, weren’t crawled from the web by diligent freepers most of us would never see/read them, let alone share them.
See? That was easy. Next question!
I have to agree....there is no way I would have the time to find all these articles and news items just by surfing around the net...
FR is my knowledge hub....my first check in...and my sign off....
Them others just think they have big butts.
You can’t beat FR for news though! It’s all here, often sooner than the tv news media can bring it. Earthquake, shooting? A freeper will tell you before the news babe gets her pants on. And you don’t have to get all encrusted with cookies from a couple dozen news sites.
Freepers are also very, very witty people.
humblegunner: Yes, you're a hero at thread posting.
And you, humblegunner, are a hero at walking along a road on a hot summer day examining it carefully until you find that one little piece of dirt that fell onto the tarmac from the field, and picking up that little tiny piece of dirt and rolling it around and around into a little tiny ball with your fingers, while staring at it and muttering "I've got you, I've got you" as cars drive by with their drivers staring at you and shushing the kids in the back seat when they ask what that man is doing talking to himself in the road.
I was waiting to see who really “got” HG’s “point”.
I hope you don’t have a Blog. If so, you really stepped in it now. LOL
If I’m reading you correctly, your point is, “How do we export the FR articles & point of view out to the MSM or other venues read by a broader audience, in an effort to “spread the gospel” so to speak?”
That is a tall order. I don’t think it can be done as you would need the permission of those other venues. The FR POV would be censored off the radar.
That doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be attempted... I’m not sure how it would be done, but there’s plenty of folks far smarter than me about such things.
We have the winner!
Thank you, sir. I was getting bored! I keep my sanity by knowing I am not alone here on FR. That is one fine posterior, indeed!
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
