Prohibition did not separate Texans from their whiskey. Various means were used to avoid the authorities, but tunnels were certainly among the choices.

Lubbock and the county it’s in is notoriously dry due to religious influences. It is a central theme of that section of Michener’s book “Texas”.

Lubbock was a “dry” county when I lived in TX in the 1970s andso was te Texas Tech campus. Storage for moonshine?
