You’re right. Far too many people fail to realize that socialized schooling is the nation’s biggest entitlement program. Going back to a free market capitalist system would eliminate the entitlement and create schools for every segment of society and private charity would insure that everyone who wanted their children schooled would be able to.
It would also eliminate problems like celebrating Christmas and Easter in school. People who want that would have a choice of schools that provided that. Muhammadans would have schools that accommodated their beliefs, etc.
The cost of schooling would drop because competition would drive down costs. Good teachers would prosper because they would be in demand.
The challenge is getting people to willingly get off the government teat.

Although......there's three chances of that happening:
Fat, slim and none!
Too many folks are comfortable and make inane suppositions......like....my Doctor went to public school; my mechanic went to public school; my teachers went to public school; my "ad nauseum" went to public school.
So what! Think how much better they all would have turned out if they hadn't gone to public school!
