Back in the Eighties I worked for a Mennonite and he confided a lot of what I’ll call their “philosophy”. Mennonites and Amish are not always who they appear to be.
To get to work I had to drive about 15 miles through Amish and Mennonite country . One morning I asked my Boss why the buggies wouldn’t get over when I over took them, especially when there was another vehicle coming the other way. He just looked at me and said,” If you think you’re better than everyone else, would you get over ?”
The same Boss had a son who went to the Caribbean every winter to be missionary. I once asked why go there , the Catholic church does a lot in the Caribbean. The answer was quick and furious. That’s why we have to be there!’
The show is a total fake, but Amish and Mennonites do have a “holier than thou” attitude at times, especially the Mennonites and some of their sects.
