Hehehe...sounds like you took someone's cvoveted 2000th post. Swooped right in there like a haw and snatcher 'er away. Only get one of those on any long thread...and very few get that long. LOL!

Also sounds like there may be some sauce running thick somewhere...but I cannot be sure on that score.

Anyhow, the rail guns have already been tested in the lab and live fired on short ranges pretty extensively.

A full-up set of prototypes will be acquired in 2014 with an eye to actual production models by 2018.

In service on the Zumwalts in the 2022-2024 time frame.

Huge game changer...and I expect, if we really wanted to, we could advance that whole schedule by 2-4 years if we felt we had to.
