And analyzing and understanding patters is extremely important. The ability to see ‘patterns’ extends to the ability to understand exactly what those patterns represent and it is the understanding which is important.
I hated high school but I had one of the highest IQs in the school. I got a peek at it when a counselor briefly left the room while discussing future classes with me.
I was rated at either 148 or 184, I an not sure of the sequence. After I graduated high school I enlisted in the Army to play in the 5th Army band. While in the Army I took the GED test as part of a college prep analysis to determine if I should go to college or just forget about it.
The lowest I scored in any category was within the top 3% of everyone who had ever taken the test before me. In most categories I was within the top 1%.
During my three year enlistment the Army kept trying to send me to OCS but I had enlisted ONLY to play in the 5th.
I agree, even now at 68 years old I consistently score in the mid to upper 140s on every online test that I have taken.
If I am interested in a subject I do very well in it but if not interested I simply refuse to get involved or study it at all.
This little girl a smart cookie, but just isn’t a phenom. I’ve watched a ten year old chess wiz kicking the tail out of middle age master...the kid was working the crowd at a bookstore while the old guy was sweating bullets.
Yasser Seirawan
I’ve spoken with a 19 year old college senior taking 28 credits...spoke 5 languages, ten Chinese dialects and worked doing Cancer Research at Stanford for a summer job... 170 roughly.
Saw a five year old at at an organ store playing a wonderfully difficult song, two handed.
Being told she’s really bright, is probably not going to help her much. She is not a luminary. But she is brighter than about 99.99% of the people writing these stories.
DK
You added the story behind it!
On the other hand in the black community who can name all fifty-seven state capitals.. 0.01%...?..
Yup, Momma said attitude means everything.
Laz, damn don’t you have an age limit.
No, what I was trying to point out is that your post #32 contained the same information that I later posted (#49). I was just giving you recognition for your earlier coverage of that propensity of Einstein’s.
Don’t forget, intelligence does not necessarily mean ‘smart’. You can be very intelligent and not be able to function in society’s common everyday affairs. Einstein was highly intelligent but supposedly couldn’t tie his own shoes. He was puzzled and fascinated by the idea of compound interest in finance.
I don’t have a clue about stock markets, futures markets or quantum physics. The IQ of a person tells you about their capability not their ability............
He was European. They bathe once a week. That is why the best perfumes and colognes come from there........... I stayed in a B&B inn in Berlin, Germany for a few weeks in 2000. My boss and I were the only guests. The maid said she was amazed that Americans (few ever stayed there apparently), especially men, took baths every night. I asked her how did she know, and she said the towels were damp and used every morning, so she had to put out new ones. I asked her, "Doesn't everybody take baths every night?" and of course she said, "No, my husband usually bathes only once a week and then only when I complain."........... Since I had never been to Europe before, my boss told me before the trip to pack a 'washcloth' in a plastic baggy to take with me, since most of the hotels and inns did not supply them, only towels, and small ones at that. I was amazed to discover that it was true. We stayed in German, Danish and Swiss hotels, some 4 and 5 star, and not a single one had washcloths......
I am the reason they invented velcro for shoes..
I wear Penny Loafers........Getting hard to find nowadays............
Those penny loafers are sure cheap. Shoes cost a lot more now a days....:O)
