I just listened to Al Sharpton and I mean listened. What I heard bordered on insanity if offered as rebuttal to what Sharpton heard from OReilly. I believe OReillys accurately presented the reasons supporting his position on causes for the problems.
I believe Sharpton is attempting to appeal to a degree of ignorance I would not have believed just a few years ago,
Of course, different listeners would come away with differing conclusions but there must be limits to how different that difference can honestly be.
Here is a link to what I heard. Sharpton Fires Back At OReilly>
In Al’s case I do not think it is insanity.
It is Stupidity and racism.
Al is no brain surgeon, but he has made a nice living stirring racial hatred. He lives damned good off the idiots that support him so he isn’t about to stop his life’s work.
Al is just a bit brighter than those who flock to listen to his rants, he is smarter than MSNBC execs. who hired him, What does that tell you about them. By the way they hired Maddow and Chrissy Mathews too.
You musta watched the old Morton Downey, Jr. Show.
Interesting story. It’s still my policy to try and avoid debating or arguing with idiots. As George Carlin (?) put it, “They try to drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
With lefties, ‘argument’ generally turns into ad hominen and invective. And I don’t have a problem with that. But it’s entertainment, not constructive. They call you a racist, cross their arms, smirk and you say,
“OK. I win.”
Have you ever listened to Hitler? I think we’ve all seen those films of his fiery speeches. He’s up there ranting and waiving his fist. I don’t speak German so I always assumed his words matched the force of his presentation. Then I heard one of those speeches in translation. It was complete nonsense. I think it’s that way with Sharpton and many demagogs. It’s their image, not their words that create the impression.
Eight posts, not bad.
See, there are benefits to reading a thread...
Nah.
5.56mm
Oh yea, I did watch his show.
But me n Al really did swap spit.
It WAS funny, from my point of view anyway.
He had Brillcream hair to beat the hell out the band. Complete with pompadour and all. And a thousand dollar suit.
Best moment of my life.
You have a moment, and then, for the next 20 years, you beat the hell out yourself and say: “shoulda said this, shoulda said that, damn, whyd I have a brain fart?”
Truth is that ALL synapses were firing brightly that day. Don’t ask me why, only God knows. I have NO regrets for anything I did or said that day. I got out every thing I wanted to say to that race hustler. And then some. NO REGETS, NOTHING LOST, NOTHING FORGOTTEN.
My right arm got about 2 feet longer from patting myself on the back.
Every once in a lifetime, your moment comes. Sometimes you are on your game, MOST times you’re not.
That day, all my stars and planets aligned, but I did not know it until later.
Fun day for me.
Why does Fox follow the others by having him on their programs?
I think they got the story line from Little Red Riding Hood only they changed it to Little Gray Riding Hood. You see, Little Gray Riding Hood had just gone to the store to get some Skittles and tea. While walking through the forest (Twin Lakes condominiums) the big bad wolf (George Zimmerman) attacked him. Unfortunately there was no woodsman to save Little Gray Riding Hood and you know what happened.
I’ve had that as my tagline for quite some time. It’s so eloquent, so right-on.
Great experience. ;-D
Non-blacks to an extent can (to the extent that it’s directed at whites or Asians to a degree). Only whites, most especially white, conservative, Christian, heterosexual, male, or any combination of the above, absolutely cannot speak against any “other” for any reason whatsoever. Even backing you say with the government’s own statistics will be a “hate fact”.
Can you imagine any white stirring up riots which lead to the murder of any “other”, ever being anything in this country again but a criminal for all of remaining history?
God bless you for having the spine.
They’re not generous, they want to redistribute wealth until we’re all poor. No more middle class, just the global super-rich/government using the super-poor/government against the middle until we’re gone. The middle has always held the line on normalcy, morals, etc. The very super-rich and the underclass have always united on the fringes of morality.
“redistirbute the wealth”, with a nice 50%+ of it being spent on the redistributors of course.
That was the cue to his bodyguards that he was afraid and on the verge of soiling himself publicly.
Listen to him?
I can’t even stand to look at him. With his slicked back coiffure, his pencil neck and his ruptured syntax he resembles a warbling woodpecker. He and Jackson are rather like cartoon characters.
And, incidentally, so is the unknown comic who habituates the White Hut.
I listened to him for about 3 minutes a number of years ago - from what I understand, nothing has changed so I have no need to listen to him or any other lib to know what they are saying. Almost as liberating as leaving my cell phone at home when I leave in the morning...
My curiosity after paying close attention to Sharptons respond to O'Reilly was more about those who listen and support his position. I can respect a persons opinion without respecting the person.
Sharpton began by informing us that there is a long history of people exploiting the differences between us for their advantage. What comes to my mind upon hearing that are the observations of Booker T. Washington and Frederick Douglas.
Booker T. Washington, who rose from slavery to become the nations first widely recognized black leader, once warned against what he called "problem profiteers" among our nations black community. "There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public," observed Washington. "Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs."
Frederick Douglas said everybody has asked the question. . ."What shall we do with the Negro?" I have had but one answer from the beginning. Do nothing with us! Your doing with us has already played the mischief with us. Do nothing with us! If the apples will not remain on the tree of their own strength, if they are worm eaten at the core, if they are early ripe and disposed to fall, let them fall! I am not for tying or fastening them on the tree in any way, except by nature's plan, and if they will not stay there, let them fall. And if the Negro cannot stand on his own legs, let him fall also. All I ask is, give him a chance to stand on his own legs! Let him alone!
Sharpton goes on to suggest that Hannity, OReilly, and Rush (here he uses the first name) have just discovered black on black crime and are reluctant to talk about it. Sharptons convoluted position regarding the assertions does sound like insanity.
That is the essence of my curiosity. If judging Sharpton insane for what he said is incorrect then the people who listen and support his language must be insane because something crazy is going on.
