Hodgdon said the seal was barely floating and was doing everything it could to take a breath. He got the 2-foot pup onto a raft and it immediately stuck its neck out and kissed Hodgdon. He brought the seal to shore and got a better view of its injuries.
"There was a whole row of marks going across his belly up on his side," Hodgdon explained. "You could just tell his whole body was in the shark. It had to have been."
The rescue quickly turned from a heartwarming experience to a frustrating one. When a New England Aquarium volunteer arrived, they didn't want to touch it or help, the couple claims.
"I think he probably drowned and he's been on my mind every minute since Sunday, I haven't stopped thinking about him," said Mary.
Touching the seal was a violation of the Federal Marine Mammal Protection Act and the couple could face a $5,000 fine.

The poor thing may have been saved and released after it recovered.
Your government and its laws at work...
If they REALLY cared about the pup, they’d have given him mouth-to-mouth.
It didn’t need mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, it was breathing on its own, just couldn’t stay afloat in the water because of its injuries.
Look for “2 foot pup” to be voting in the 2016 election.
Humans can’t reasonably save all wildlife from natural predation, no matter how cute the offspring are. Left in the water, the injured animal would soon have been finished off by its preditor species. It’s a cruel world.
It was lunch and they stole it.
>>The law itself is self-defeating — protect the seal by letting it die!!!
We have something like that around here in the San Joaquin Valley. The Valley Oak. A beautiful giant oak species. Trouble is, if you have one on your property the gooks in the government thinks they own it. You are subject to a raft of regulations about what you can do and how you can do and where and when you can do....
They pretend this is to protect the oak, but everyone knows that it’s to grab power over private land. If someone wanted to “Protect” an oak tree, they would have laws that encouraged people to want to have them on their property. The way it is now, EVERYONE cuts them down when they’re very young before government screws take ownership.
Government is not about saving anything. It is about control and Money.
Dear Lord, guide our course.

An d yet, New England Aquarium holds several seals in bondage, Captive in an outdoor pool in waterfront park compelled to provide amusement and entertainment to passers-by day after day, 24/7.
Although they DO get free food and healthcare, and the applause is addictive! LOL!
(BTW, the Aquarium’s DOLPHINS have been retired to Florida, so I still get to see them!)
Yes, but why fine the man for an individual act of kindness. This is about power, control and money.
There is also a video at the link showing the poor little baby seal.
I read about someone in California who had a large shade tree in their yard, and their neighbor wanted to put up solar panels to “go green”. The shade tree was keeping the sun off the neighbor’s solar panels, so the government said the tree would have to go. Then they discovered it was a “protected” tree species. So we have the law demanding trees be cut down for the sake of greenness, and a frustrated solar neighbor in the nice cool shade. I don’t know how that came out.
Or fatten it up for the killer shark lurking off shore. Kinda weird that when mx. mark kelley-giffords daughters dog attacked a baby seal in kali, it was no harm, no foul. Weird how that works huh? Maybe this couple didn’t have any political gravitas.
Jury nullification. It ain’t just for OJ. Conceal your intent to rule on the law as well as the facts, and then vote your conscience. Jury votes are not subject to review.
And remember to “deliberate”. Don’t refuse to argue, the you’ll get thrown off for refusal to deliberate. Just argue your point again and again, but never vote to convict. If they have a video, helpfully express doubts about its authenticity by pointing out how you saw Luke Skywalker blow up the death star on a video.
Government out of control and insane.
It’s just a basic mark of humanity to try to help an injured animal. Sometimes dangerous yes, and of course it’s usually doomed to fail, but you can’t go through life like a savage Hutu.
If you see something that needs doing, do it and keep your mouth (and your tweeter) shut about it.
Don't call the government or their lackeys unless you want hassle and ruination.
If the government or their lackeys come around anyway, show them a locked door and demand that they get a warrant or leave.
The solar panels won out:
