This weeks Supreme Court decision in Shelby County v. Holder overturned Section 4(b) of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which mandated federal oversight of changes in voting procedure in jurisdictions that have a history of using a test or device to impede enfranchisement. Here is one example of such a test, used in Louisiana in 1964.

Dang! Good point! And just when I was ready to vote for you to be committed... actually I’m jealous ‘cause you’re getting points for being “honest”. Suck-up.
What is your answer?

Answer the question.
Yeah, thanks for bringing us Slick Willy, Bush and Obama.
24 years of boomer governance...
It’s good to know boomers hate us with a passion.
“I would bet a lot of money (if only there was a way to prove it) that less than half of America could take the test and get none of it wrong”
No doubt.
The fraction of our population that should be allowed to vote is certainly below 50%, probably no more than 20%.
This postwar experiment with universal suffrage is a disaster and the sooner it ends the better.
Backwards
Low IQ people should not be voting unless/until they have some qualifying achievement, like running a business or owning property.
If they didn’t give the test to whites or allowed whites to cheat, I would be against that. If more whites than blacks passed a fair test, well, so what?
I’ll take credit for 1 out of 3. I happened to like bush, in spite of his warts.
You kids and your down-low perverted character are responsible for clintoon and the monkey though. You can’t pin that on us. And they’re hurting you more than me.
You realize I’m just yanking your chain. We’re all in this together. Besides, we boomers don’t hate you — we need you (to keep paying our SS). At least until the former illegals take over the taxpayer role; then all bets are off. :-)
Take a Pentagon.
Draw 5 lines from all the corners of the pentagon into the centre of the pentagon.
Inscribe 5 circles offset slightly from the centre with diameter along the centre line.
Took me an hour to figure this one out.
Terrific.
Not all of us voted for Obama. I get a lot of crap from the boomers in my life (my parents are both Obama worshippers), so you’ll have to escuse me if I’m a bit sore about it.
5?
Oops, I mean 5CM.
OK, I finally got it.
Yes that is right where X is.
Sorry about your parents’ political views.
Don’t worry, I know you couldn’t have possibly voted for O. You young conservatives are our hope (and on that I’m *not* yanking your chain).
Thanks for fighting the good fight. It’s harder for you than for me.
And keep working! Hard! Damned nursing homes are getting more and more expensive every day. :-)
There was a joke many years ago that an Alabama registrar hands a Black guy a Chinese newspaper and asks him to read the headlines.
The Black guy replies. “It says there aren’t gonna be any Black guys voting in Alabama.”
That’s the answer to #28?
It wasn’t boiler plate. It was from an actual test in Alabama, that showed how white people were given two simple sentences to read, and blacks had to read aloud from a long, complicated passage of legalese.
I deliberately posted it as a reply to each person who was (ignorantly) dismissing the test as “trivial” and “easy”.
I see two how did you know witch one?
