I recommend The Lost Dogs by Jim Gorant, Gotham Books, NY, 2010, to anyone here who wants to learn about the entire Vick case from the investigation and prosecution through the rehabilitation and final placement of the dogs. It's 279 page long, excluding acknowledgements and bibliography, very well written, and a terrific read.

On one hand, I’d like to read it because I feel strongly about what happened and know it’s an important book to read, but on the other I understand it’s a difficult read because of the graphic nature of the abuse detailed in the book. I haven’t been able to reconcile the two — yet. Maybe one day....
