James was very important in American history, and it's not just because he was involved in the settlement at Jamestown ~ rather, he was important because he accepted the gift of Acadia from King Filippe II/III ~ who'd held out hopes that James would found Catholic colonies there.
James, instead, took Acadia with him as he became the King of England as well, and that body of rocks became a sizeable chunk of the later United States. We call it NEW YORK and MASSACHUSETTS!
Plymouth was carved out of Virginia. The boundary line between Acadia and VIrginia extends from the tip of Cape Cod Westward to Chicago. The boundary between Acadia and New France was never clearly marked although it was fought over many times. The first war recorded was about 1613

As a fervent Catholic, should she have been buried in a Protestant church?

Anyone interested in Mary Queen of scots should read her bio by Lady Antonia Fraser...very well done...a sad figure in history.
To: SunkenCiv
According to one biography I read (Fraser), Mary shocked those present at her execution when she removed her outer garment before she was beheaded. Her petticoat was blood red — not white. This was a piece of drama designed by Mary, herself, so that her blood would not show.
When the executioner grabbed her red hair to hold her head aloft, her head slipped out of her wig and fell to the ground. Her own hair was pure white, much to the shock of the observors.
The third piece of drama (as if an execution wasn’t enough) was her little dog which was hiding under her skirts and refused to leave her body afterward.

As a fervent Catholic, should she have been buried in a Protestant church? She wasn't a fervent Catholic. She switched churches, alliances and husbands whenever the political winds shifted.
Her problem was that she was greedy and never was quite as clever as she thought she was. A deadly combination in a queen.

Well, context is important. Remember, it wasn't considered a foul to burn at the cross your religious opponents.
Praise God. Trust God.

Didn’t it require quite a few blows with the axe to sever her head from her body? I have read that the axeman was drunk.
