Something under appreciated these days is that —even if you are not a christian— you have to acknowledge that it is Christianity and Jesus that caused the worldwide abandonment of human sacrifice over two millennium.
“I don’t want to go on the cart!”
“The introduction of the steam shovel and backhoe changed the hard realities of disposition of the dead in ways it’s difficult to explain.”
There is a Nat Geo documentary called “Viking Apocalypse”
They were building or widening a roadway in the south of England, and discovered a bunch of bones together.
The thesis is that a group (probably Vikings) were beheaded. They use science to determine who, and perhaps why.
Studying teeth reveals diet, studying diet reveals childhood location, etc.
Thank you for the ping, Mr. Civilizations. I find this sort of stuff fascinating.
Actually, human sacrifice has always been against God. The very first murder is condemned by God. Moreso, is Christianity’s effect on liberty throughout the world. Islam continues to support slavery today and Hinduism via the caste system, which, though nominally illegal, continues to function.
Despite Christianity’s stated rejection of the world believers moved it toward liberty. Even in Islam, it is Christianity driving liberty and not Islam itself.

Actually, human sacrifice has always been against God.
....
True, but it was at one time practiced by nearly every people group on earth.

The very first murder is condemned by God.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
True. God’s second covenant was with Noah. That included the injunction. Thou shalt no murder.... Same goes for the third covenant (or fourth depending on whether you count God’s covenants with Abraham) the 10 commandments. the law there was thou shalt not murder...
not .... thou shalt not kill. There was a distinction between lawful killing and unlawful killing. similarly the 10 commandments says thou shalt not commit adultery. it does not say thou shalt not have sex. there is a distinction made between lawful sex and unlawful sex.
Just some Rock band horsing around at The Outpost in Kent Oh.
Well, maybe you thought of Kent, OH., but when I see “Kent”, I think of the county where I live, Kent County, MD. :)
It was a bit of a joke.
:’) Thanks TOL.
[smiles]
I realized that. So was mine. :)
