A scene from the movie ‘’The Longest Day’’ about the D-Day landings.A number of messages are sent to various French Resistance groups in codes, using nondescript sentences and lines from poems by Voltaire, ‘’wound my heart with monotonous languor'', etc. One was a silly sounding sentence, ''the dice are on the carpet''.
