Pleasing me as a pet is all the purpose I need. You have no say in the matter. I care not what pleases you - dressing up in jackboots and masturbating to pictures of holocaust victims or whatever it is you do, so long as you stay off my property in pursuing it. But if you try to come into my house and try to harm my dog, my dog will have barked to warn me long before you got in - purpose that - and I will kill you and feed your carcass to the pigs, it's that simple. Oh, please. And what purpose, pray tell, to Silkie chickens, or Old English Game bantams have, besides being ornamental?
Pet dogs have a purpose and that purpose is to provide companionship and protection to their owners. Even a Pomeranian can bark at a stranger and alert his owner.
I hope your Pyr never gets hip dysplasia or goes blind. What will you do to the poor thing if it is no longer able to earn its keep?
