>>Siamese cats are not “psychopaths”, and they are neither frightening nor dangerous; they are gentle, predictable, and affectionate, more like dogs than cats of other breeds.

I know. I was (mostly) kidding about the Siamese (I never met a cat I didn’t like, or didn’t like me). My Himalayans act like fat Siamese and I agree with you that they are more dog than cat in their interaction with humans. Once they bond with “their human’, they become your shadow.

My first Siamese was a little female kitten. She followed me everywhere. I have never loved a pet more than I did her. Suddenly one day, I found her dead. I never knew what had happened. She was one of the sweetest animals I've ever known.

Then when my wife and I get married, we got two Siamese cats--my wife's idea. I realized that part of what I had loved in the kitten was the Siamese personality. We have both had many different kinds of pets, from fish to iguanas to peacocks, but like Siamese cats above all. (And I'm a dog person.) I like the way other cats look, but I like the Siamese temperament.

My Siamese is a leader. He has to look back frequently to assure he's leading me in the right direction.

That Siamese were wacko was a common misconception back in the day so I jumped on it reflexively when I read your post.

My last Siamese taught herself to use the toilet when no one was looking. I was jaw-drop shocked when I went to use the loo and had to wait for the cat!
