Absatively! Craig Johnson is the author and all are available on amazon for Kindle and Dead Tree Media...

Love the series and have been watching since it began last year. Tonight’s was a little dull, last week’s better.

I’ve noticed that about this show. One or two episodes are a little vanilla and then, wham, you get one that throws you. And then the cycle repeats.

Like I said above I like it a lot but they miss some opportunities to make it really, really interesting at times.

My wife and I just started watching it on Netflix. I said, “This is the story of what happened to Raylan Givens once he retired.”

Great show, and it was good seeing Lou Diamond Phillips working again!

I was watching the pilot on Netflix recently and turned it off after the female cop said something to the effect that “these days, anyone can buy an AK-47 over the Internet”.

Do they still insert this kind of nonsense into the dialog or was it a one-time thing?

Well I can tell ya that the books and the show are about as politically UNcorrect as one can get. Especially the books.

Okay, thanks. Maybe I’ll give it another try. I was afraid it would be sprinkled with leftist agitprop like certain other cop shows do.

From what little I’ve seen, it seemed vaguely similar to the Jesse Stone movies (aging cop struggling with past and present demons, etc.).

"Okay, thanks. Maybe I’ll give it another try. I was afraid it would be sprinkled with leftist agitprop like certain other cop shows do."

Well if you look at her statement in context it wasn't at all leftist. They were talking about a Old Sharps Rifle that uses Black Powder 45-70 rounds. IOW very expensive to shoot and very slow to reload. Not really all that reliable a rifle compared to modern day weapons.

And you can buy AK-47s on the internet you just need to have them delivered to your nearest gun shop that has an FFL and of course you end up paying a little vig to the shop for the priviliege.

What I took the line for was, "Why use something old and obscure that sticks out like a sore thumb forensically when there are modern weapons that are much harder to trace (because of the sheer numbers available) and much easier to obtain ammo for if you are setting out to murder someone and get away with it."

Btw that situation of the Sharps weapon chambered for Black Powder 45-70 is from one of the books though the story is totally different on the series. The Sharps is a weapon used by many of the Indians that massacred Custer (Not sure if that is true but the Book uses such as part of a plot line) And Longmire comes across one of the actual weapons that was used at the Battle of Little Big Horn via Standing Bear. His family owns the weapon and in the book it is said to be worth upwards of 1 million bucks.

Also some other things you should note every time Vic (the Sheriffete who uttered the AK line in question) says What the Hell she is actually saying "What the F***" but they couldn't do that on the TV series because in the books she is about as UN PC as you can get. "She (to misquote a line from the books) would stomp the chest of a liberal into a mud puddle and then walk it dry..."

She is no womens libber or panty waist libtard she is a hard core kickass South Philly Girl who out shoots the other local sheriffs when she goes to re-qualify for her sidearm.

We never miss Longmire. My only complaint is that some times the actors mumble and are hard to understand but other than that it is a winner!
