M*A*S*H was a horribly written, anti-American, anti-military series that I couldn’t stand.
There weren’t any patriotic American officers who weren’t cast as morons, nor were there any commie Korean military who weren’t slobbered all over sympathetically.
All U.S. military cowards were shown as heroes and any tough military-minded soldiers were shown as aggressive and nasty.
The cross dressing soldier, Klinger, was cast as a comic rather than someone who should have been drummed out of the service immediately.
Sorry, but I couldn’t stand watching this series after even a half-year.

I agree 100%.
And that Alda creep was/is an especially insufferable @hole, imho.
As I understand the Klinger character, he dressed and acted the way (Insane) he did, to get cashiered, but the colonel was on to his game and refused to send him home.
I used to think that M*A*S*H was a funny show when I was a kid. As a conservative adult, I now see what a leftist, anti-American show it was.
That’s the point. Corporal Klinger WANTED to be thrown out of the Army so that he could go home. And that was the “Catch 22” - to borrow another military book title - if you pretend to be crazy in order to get out of the army, then you obviously cannot be crazy.
