It is a very compleat education for a writer.
I think the absolute best show ever was the Andy Griffith Show when Don Knotts was on the show. His entrance to the show changed Andy’s character from being the local goof to the fatherly figure, while Barney became the comic element. Perfect comic writing when he was on the show. I remember as a kid how upset I was when he left it. It still was a descent show but never attained the excellence of the first three or four seasons when Barney was there.
