OMG! Hilarious! And I totally agree Eccleston and his street hooligan Dr. Who was ridiculous.

The point is that the character has to have gravitas. Tom Baker was 39 when he was cast but had it.

That’s a transcription of a message board conversation. You know ‘fans’ can be.

Might be time to start watching again. I could not stand Matt Smith.

I only just finished Season 3, so am a little behind; but great series.

If they go with a female Doctor, I’m not watching. That would ruin it for me!

Side note, my kids saw that today was ‘Bad Wolf’ day. We have it written all over our driveway, the windows of the van and the fence in neon chalk. :0)

Has there ever been a female Doctor before?

Female Time Lord, yes. Female Doctor, no.

Frankly, I think it would just change too much of what we "know" about time lords. There have been quips that have said something about regenerating as a female which some fans will hang onto as "canon", but they can be easily explained away as jokes or putdowns and hold the same weight as the Doctor's claim that he was half-human on his mother's side.

Someone named "x" complaining about a Doctor named "Who"?
Strange.

Hey, Tom Baker’s available. Not sure how he’d react, though, when the producer says, “Now Tom, here’s a special effect that we paid more than ten pounds sterling for.” I don’t think he’s ever been there.

I think Matt Smith should stick around, he reminds me of the older versions of the role.

John Hurt was already shown as a version of the Doctor who gave up that role, gave up being a Time Lord.

No female Dr Who but they have mentioned that time lords can change sexes during reincarnations

He was introduced as a Doctor who abandoned his role as a time lord, since Matt Smith recognized him I don’t see he is a future Doctor.

Keep a male Doctor but introduce a new Time Lord who is a female who wants to bring back the Gallifreyan race by stealing the “essence” of the Doctor!

The previous show runner removed all the Gallifrey stuff because he didn’t like how those scenes played in the old series...it was always a bunch of classy British actors speaking in measured tones. The Green Room at the RSC as he called it.

It's been pointed out to me that if you look at the clothes that John Hurt is wearing, he is dressed similarly to Doctors 8 and 9, which means he could have something to do with the Time War. He is either an older 8th Doctor or a partway regeneration (or some gobbley-gook to be spoken later).

Maybe that's the Doctor's secret. They're acknowleging the American-made TV movie! 8-P

The biggest problem with the Time War is that whatever they film could never live up to expectations, and they'd need the budget of a feature-film to shoot it properly.

As much as I'd like to see Davros's command ship fly into the jaws of the Nightmare Child, I don't think it's possible (whatever "the Nightmare Child" actually is).
