Sounds like someone is asking for money.
I’m sort of waiting for a Nigerian 800#..

“$39,000,000 has been secured for this most inevitable project, with funds to be distributed from Sir Patashwerwati, Financial Directior of the Republic of Kiribati. It has come to our Attention Mr. Cowboy Bob through mutual relations that you can provide aid in transfer of funds to TIGHAR. Please advise which Bank Account of your choosing, and a 20% retainer fee will be credited to your account.”
The only way to be absolutely sure that the anomaly is indeed Amelia's plane is by sending another expedition to the island, but that will depend upon the ability of TIGHAR, a nonprofit institute that relies upon sponsorships and contributions from the public, to raise the needed funding.
"We currently project that it will take nearly $3,000,000 to put together an expedition that can do what needs to be done. It's a lot of money, but it's a small price to pay for finding Amelia," Gillespie said.
Shake down is right. This guy has been running the TIGHAR scam for over 20 years.
That would be correct.
Richard E. Gillespie qualifies as a non-profit entrepreneur. From 1973 to 1984, he was an aviation accident investigator. Then, in January 1985, he founded TIGHAR and has been its executive director ever since. See their about page.
