The White House petition was headlined: Please help us stop the Yulin Festival of eating dogs in Guangxi province. It is bloody and disregards life has collected 751 signatures as of Thursday since its creation on May 12.

A programme produced by Yulin TV station about the dog meat festival
Legend has it the eating of dog meat will dispel evil ghosts and disease. It is also widely believed that dog meat can boost mens sexual performance - as it has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat impotence.
The tradition is not unique to Yulin. Other cities in Zhejiang, Guangxi, and Guangdong province, among them the booming industrial town Dongguan, are also known to be avid consumers of dog meat.
Mo Yingran, a Guangzhou-based animal activist, shared with the South China Morning Post details of his secret investigation in Yulin last year.
Mo wanted to find out who was supplying the meat to the festival. Despite the governments claim that dogs were raised by local farmers before being butchered, it is rumoured that some were stray dogs and others abducted from various parts of China.
But when Mo showed up at a market pretending to be a buyer, the seller became suspicious and refused to answer his questions.
Mo later managed to slip into the local governments headquarters, posing as a potential investor. He then presented his case to several officials.
They told me they had to respect local culture, and would be willing to launch a public awareness campaign to remind people of the risks of eating unhealthy meat, said Mo. The Yulin government denied organising the event, but said they objected to scrapping it altogether.
On Tianya, a popular Chinese forum, a heated debate broke out among bloggers.
Why do we have to listen to what westerners say? wrote one commentator. They eat turkey all the time and nobody says a word about it.
Its wrong to eat animals that are people's companions, argued another. Even when we kill animals, we should make sure they dont suffer.
Deng Yidan, a spokesman from Animals Asia Foundation, a Hong Kong-based chartiy seeking to end cruelty to animals in Asia, said their independent investigation found most dogs sold to restaurants were stolen from households or abducted from the street. These dogs are usually ill and, therefore, pose a grave risk to consumers.
Deng said they had written a letter to Yulin's government protesting the festival.
"Culture and tradition should not be used as an excuse for brutality," she said.
Requests for comment from Yulin's mayors office have not been returned.
Petitioning the Kenyan Usurper who admits to eating dog? Too much irony...
Asians seems to have this huge problem with impotence don't they? I mean seriously, what is this? Between the Japanese and shark fins and bear gall bladders and blow fish and this and that and bird claws, now it's dog meat. They ever shut up and try viagra?

Animal rights activists in China? Aw hell no, we spread the disease of whackjob liberalism. Don’t they just shoot people over there to shut them up???!?
Please insert the word, POLICY after Foreign.
I think the PETA folks should immediately send a very large entourage of their best and brightest to China.
With any luck they will be jailed for an extended period.
What??
He’s not invited?
Here's another one for your Impotent Cookbook.....
Virgin Eggs A Chinese Delicacy Soaked in Boys Urine
Called tongzi dan (literally boy egg) they are an old culinary tradition listed as part of the Dongyong cultural heritage, similar to tea eggs hard boiled eggs soaked in soy sauce and vinegar. The only difference is Virgin Eggs are soaked in urine.
Vendors collect virgin boys urine from elementary schools around the city and use it as a main ingredient for their unusual street food. Plastic barrels are placed outside the classrooms and boys are reminded to pee in them, unless they are sick. The pee is then used to boil eggs, their shell cracked to allow the flavour to slip through, then soaked in urine and boiled again. The whole cooking process takes an entire day. I know it sounds disgusting, but some people say they have the taste of Spring, while others claim theyre so delicious that I could eat 10 a day.

In light of, and to show my respect for multiculturalism, I hereby, humbly suggest Chinese consider revising their dining premises.
No other animal has demonstrated such a 25/8 dogged commitment to sex as Bill Clinton.
The HillaBeast could finance her campaigns by butchering Bill and selling him in small bits.
Clearly, ‘horn dog’ of such potentcy would be effective in extremely small dosages.
Hmmn - given the HillaBeast’s reputation for young girls, America could offer HillaBeast Bits for sale to lethargic Lesbians.
Combine both sales programs and the profits from just the Chinese purchases alone would retire the Chinese debt obligations America has accumulated.
I remember stories of the last NK guy, Kim Il Jong(?). He was popping viagra while the rest of the country was lucky to eat dog.
