A few of my favorites are "The Longest Day" (John Wayne...need I say more?), "They Were Expendable", "Since You Went Away" (I know, I know..not exactly a military tribute film but a tribute of those who kept the home fires burning), "The Best Years of Our Lives"....all great movies to remember those who gave some and all!!

Watched the movie Memorial Day (2011) on Netflix streaming not too long ago; not stellar, but worth a look.
Other modern movies to check out would be Valor, Restrepo, Defiance and Saints and Soldiers.
My favorites:
-To Hell and Back
-The Longest Day
-Sergeant York
-Band of Brothers
-Heaven Knows Mr Allison
-In Harm’s Way

Because it is Memorial Day:
Taking Chance. A modern movie but well made.
Band of Brothers is my all-time favorite mini series.
For older movies:
To Hell and Back
The Longest Day
In Harms Way

I'll jump in. The pool seems warm.
I like, in no particular order
Midway
Tora, Tora, Tora
Blackhawk Down
Master and Commander, Far Side of the World (not a "military" classic per se, but a great movie that seems realistic)
Pretty much anything listed above (there are a few that I haven't seen)

Patton and Saving Private Ryan are my two favorite military films that are connected to any degree with Memorial Day.I also love Breaker Morant and Das Boat but neither are connected of course.
