So what? If you’ve got a problem with that then don’t go hunting. BTW, you killed all kinds of bugs today just being alive, don’t they deserve to live? My best friend’s Mother was our teacher. This was around 1960.
One day she told a story of her Grandfather when he was a boy.
He was crossing the Choctawhatchee River on his horse when a giant gator grabbed the horse. The boy was able to escape but the gator got the horse.
A few days later he found the horse where the gator had stored it in a brush pile close to the shore. The boy got his shotgun and loaded it with 00 buck. It was a single shot.
After a couple of days of waiting, the gator came to eat off his kill. The boy whose name was Stafford killed him.
Everyone around came to see the gator. He measured 18 feet.
At first I thought this was one of those stories which get better and better over the years but the more I thought, I believe her. They were honest people and it would have taken a very large gator to handle a full grown horse.
