The feds shut it down?
Under what law?
EFF and others took the feds to court, with folks like me buying T-shirts to fund the defense, and the feds lost. PGP is legal. It isn't a munition, regardless of what they say. Bits aren't bombs.

I think under a firearms export treaty ....
Sounds like U.N. Meddling...
It’s that Midnight Warrantless-ninja outfit gear, no knock, shoot your dog, stomp your girlfriend in the face while I bust a cap from my M-16 in your face law.
You know, the one they field tested in Boston just a couple of weeks ago.
You just knew when that inbred swill drinking moron, Chuckles Schumer started whining it woudn’t be long before they came after him.
I’m no lawyer and I’ve not checked but...there’s a thing called ITAR (International Trafficking & Arms Regulation). This isn’t restricted to just physical weapons but the intellectual property (software, designs, etc.). So possibly something along those lines (ITAR violation).
I’m not saying it justifies them being shut down, this will need to get sorted out.
