Its now official. The Vikings have cut punter Chris Kluwe.
The 31-year-old was given the news Monday morning at Winter Park during a meeting with General Manager Rick Spielman.

Kluwes release will not come without some controversy. The veteran punter has raised his profile in recent years by speaking out on political and social issues, most notably taking a firm stance in support of gay marriage and gay rights.

Time for a new OC.
He’ll land on his feet. I doubt that he’ll be out of work for too long. If another team doesn’t pick him up, he’ll find somewhere else to go, other things to do.
I’ve thought so. But we’ll see how this season goes, I guess. My personal thought was that Leslie Frazier was overmatched as an NFL head coach but Peterson’s brilliance last year helped keep him in the hotseat for another season.
Kluwe was a dead man walking, both Kluwe and Locke came from UCLA, what are the odds? I hang out on a UCLA Sports site, probably 65% of the Subscribers are grads/students, others like myself are just Fans of the Football / Basketball Teams. Overwhelmingly the Grads are left of center, and of course very few of them want to hear that Kluwe wasn't getting it done on the Field.
Adios to the fruity pants lover.
He sucked as a punter, anyway.
“Shut Up And Punt” bumper sticker sales might have helped fund their new playground.
