The thing most people miss is that any references to depth perception go out the window in total darkness like that, and light sources are far easier to see on a clear dark night as well.

Having spent a great deal of time in the “ghetto”, I can tell you that is not the cops or sheriffs. The LEOs are either “orbiting”, or taking it easy at altitude flying in a straight line high above everything, or streaking fast and low (enough to rattle the windows.)

The first Mrs. Lurkin used to refer to the local chopper “ace”, who thought it was his job to roar at low altitude over her part of South Central, “Air Wolf.”
