Rush's caller asked him when he was going to do another "inaugural speech" like the one he did at CPAC four years ago when he famously said he hoped Obama fails.
After the call, he mused that some evenings when everyone was asleep, he'd sip an adult beverage and think about possibly buying some time on network TV to try and reach Americans who don't get info anywhere else. (Snerdly cracked that he could get that time cheaper on NBC.)
Of course Rush ended with a "Shhh, don't tell anybody. This is just something I wonder about when I'm alone" (paraphrased), which means attacks will be all around by tomorrow morning from the lib press. "How dare he?" "Who does he think he is?" "No one wants to hear his racist blather!" Etc.
But what do conservatives think? On the plus side, the critics will be all over his half hour no prompter or note speech, so even if low info voters don't actually watch, they can't avoid the constant critique of it. If Rush aimed for the critics and their antagonism, he might head them off at the pass and reach people and change minds, especially if he did it a few times. And if the ratings were good enough, the network might even cancel some dating show and pick him up for prime time! If MSNBC cared about money, maybe they'd hire him to do a Point - Counterpoint with Maddow! (A girl can dream; he'd wipe the floor with that ball of sarcasm in a boy's Eton suit.)
And Rush still doesn't understand that it is legal immigration that is changing the demographics of this country and has been ever since the 1965 Immigration Act. Amnesty only hastens the process.
"Only constant repetition will finally succeed in imprinting an idea on the memory of a crowd" - Hitler
I think he just did.
No. They do. That’s the problem. It does not matter to them. They are easing conservatives into accepting it.
I still remember that speech - one bright light in a very dark time - hope he follows through....
It was sheet brilliance. Saw it again last year or so and it was so prescient. Sad that we knew all this and yet it all happened. ObamaCare?? Are we serious?? And it is the power of the media that is causing Obama to “succeed” probably greater than he dreamed. Maybe one day we will see a video of him in a cave crowing how his plans brought down America just like Osama did.
So Rush using the media -— which will be hard to achieve as they won’t want him to use them -— might be all we have left.
If he quits flacking for Marco Rubio’s ‘conservatism’, why not?
This is bigger than Rush buying an hour of time. We need conservatives buying time 24/7, and taking over the AP, Reuters, and the BBC.
Where are these conservatives? When will they step up with their money?
We need to take a play from Jason Collins. He was waiting for another NBA player to come out of the closet and be the first. Since no one did, he stepped up to the basket. Maybe Rush needs to be the first daring conservative to step out of the Scared of Liberals’ Namecalling closet.
That’s weird because only last week, he talked to a college student who asked why he doesn’t buy airtime to get his message across. Rush said it would be meaningless, or something to that affect.
Rush’s TV show was glacially paced.
I have a theory on that. and you gave me a opening to present it.
After the election, I noticed that my interest in donating money of any amount to any conservative cause has not only fallen off...but disappeared entirely.
I think the reason is quite simple and absolutely clear to me.
I want this country to pay the price this time, for the stupidity so blatantly expressed in the last election. I want the libs to revel in their victory as they pull down all the things that made this country great and stomp on them with all the self loathing they can muster.
I want the idiot voters who elected this charlatan to pay the price for what they have done in order that it never happens again for at least a couple of generations.
In order for that to happen, I need to get out of their way.
So I have.....
We don’t have to agree with Rush on everything but he is still big and bold on our side and he can explain why liberalism is wrong better than anyone. No one has converted more souls than he.
He probably converted half of us on this thread.
He and Palin should start their own 501c that does PSA’s for conservatism and make some heads explode.
I thought Rush did just fine on the TV show.
I heard what he said about not liking the meetings, the makeup, the whole production/collaboration thing, but I think even Rush may underestimate, at least a little, the value of video: sometimes (and for some people) an image or a video clip has more impact than any words can.
Remember Clinton at Ron Brown’s funeral?
He has indeed done great things.
I also remember clearly the post 06 election when in a moment of weakness on his show, he admitted having carried GOP water.
I listen to him still and agree with the majority of what he says. But I no longer trust that he is not carrying the GOP water. In fact Rubio proved he is.
His show was actually pretty successful. It was just that so many places stuck it on late at night.
I was only able to watch it during summer vacations when I was a teenager because it was on at around midnight.
He went into great detail a week or so ago about why another TV venture will never happen. It wasn't so much the controversial nature of his show but all the time consuming background stuff that goes on before he sits in front of the camera.
When you think about it, Rush has to do a ton of reading and watching the various news outlets to gather the "stuff" for the next day's program even tho his staff helps him with that part of it. It's an enormous consumption of his time......
But it appears that much like liberals, they have a need to be perpetually offended by something said on the right.
