This was NOT simply the cutting of a lesser player.

This was an active effort to diminish his light and his opportunity to shine in the NFL.

The Jets could have let him go, or traded him long ago, but wanted to limit his future opportunities and the attention focused on him.

Nonsense. If thats the case, why did the Jets even acquire him in the first place? You think the acquisition was a conspiracy between the Jets and the NFL to kill Tebow’s career by sitting him on the bench and then releasing him?

He’s just not that good of a quarterback. And, that combined with the fact that the Jets as an organization are inept pretty much killed Tebow’s career. At least as a football player.

They didn’t want to let him go, because they were stuck overpaying him even if they dropped him and hoped to get SOMETHING for him. They have been trying to trade Tebow for a while, but there are NO takers.

The Jets made a bad pickup on a mediocre quarterback...it happens all the time. Tebow can play 2nd or 3rd string for a while somewhere, but may be better served by switching to maybe TE.

His agent was able to start looking for a trade partner months ago, and the teams that expressed interest expressed interest IF he would consider changing positions from QB to something else on the field. Tebow declined.

That fact renders the notion that the Jets ‘held him back’ demonstrably false, and even more absurd is the notion that it’s because of his faith. They might have gotten something for him in a trade, they get absolutely nothing by simply releasing him.

He is nowhere near the first ‘can’t miss’ college qb to miss the mark entirely in the NFL.

Again, one can only trade a player if some other team is willing to enter into the agreement, and QB Tim Tebow was of no interest to other NFL teams.

I believe your tin foil hat is on too tight

As a Gator fan and also a huge Tebow fan, I’ll have to side with the Jets on this. He’s an interesting player with the talent to play in the NFL. The question is at what position. Perhaps he can find a NFL team that runs a college type spread offense that would enable him to shine as a QB but I doubt it. Or perhaps he’ll sign with a team that will request he change positions. Won’t be the first time that has ever happened to a hot shot college QB.
