There are music fans, and then there are Bob Seger fans. Evie Branan had been in a coma for five years and when she emerged, the first words out of her mouth were, I want to go to a Bob Seger concert.
Why would I say that? Branan laughed later when recounting the story to her hometown paper, the Flint Journal, in Michigan. Maybe my last thoughts were Bob Seger before I had my stroke. While Branan may have been unsure about why she wanted to see Bob Seger in concert so badly, she was certainly a fan of the Night Moves singer. Branan had seen five Seger concerts before her coma, which she fell into after suffering a massive stroke in 2007. She was in a care center for years, unable to speak, until she regained consciousness in May 2011 and announced her desire to see a Seger show. Last Thursday, the 79-year-old woman got the chance to see Seger in concert again.

Funny I just see Seger shares same birthday with my mom! LOL
Does he still have the most made up name in Rock and Roll history, “Alto Reed” in his band?
Take that, Springsteen you phony!
She has “The Fire Inside”
Why is he scaring her? lol
The man has an amazing way writing about life, big fan here.
...”since coma disconnects the soul from the body, and the body is what is caught in temporal grasp while soul is not once disconnected from the aging body”.....
Uh? Want to enlarge on that?
Apparently, being in a coma has a positive effect on one’s musical taste.
Interesting.
In a coma, that is the kind of song that would enter the mind.
“Late last night, I sat and wondered.....”
“Started humming a song from 1962....”
“Funny how the night moves.”
Perhaps an insight to how the mind works during a long sleep.
She was a teen in the ‘50s, if the article is correct.
Don’t forget Florida, and many other places.
Thanks for info. Never heard that. Any links?
She just learned that Barack Obama has been elected president TWICE with a performance record worse than Jimmy Carter and GW Bush combined.
LOL!
Never happened. He never went to jail....ever. This wife of 1 year made up a story looking for a cash settlement when the marriage fell apart.
Wow, cool. I’m glad the hospital didn’t pester the family to harvest her organs but she was 79 so maybe they weren’t viable.
That is a great story. Five years, imagine the changes in five years.
Strokes are horrible events. Seeing family members or friend’s family members that have had them is extremely depressing.
No, she’s still the same.
She musta been a teenager in the seventies!
EXPLANATION, LUCY: Since the article clearly states that the woman is 79 years all, it is quite obvious she was not a teenager in the 1970s. Then what? Then the joker is obviously making a reference to the typical or stereotypical, if you prefer, age of fans of rock singers.
