I’m sorry for the loss of your husband....what a tragedy.
My father died in 1997. His heart seized up as he was sitting at the kitchen table, paying bills. That night, when we took my mother home, we found that one of the paramedics had stolen his checkbook. So, while my father lay dying at the hospital, I had to take my dazed mother to the bank to close out the account.
The fire department claimed the guy only took it for “safekeeping.” I was young then, and as deep in shock as my mom, so I didn’t pursue it.
