"Ah. King prout did us proud with his original diagram (wherever that is) and everything else seems to be superflouous. Or something."

I've had some help with trying to portray the design of the three Habitats, and their mutual relation. It's less elegant than I would wish.

But it is functional. What we are currently doing is modifying our layouts for the extremely long term. If transportation, communication, travel and trade should collapse in the Solar System, I want this outpost to survive independently as long as possible. It's necessary to do so, among other things, to provide a background setting for stories I want to write.

To that end, certain features of the Flying Castle Habitat, and its associated Habitats A and B are being modified. Linkages are being established between neighboring Habitats, to provide additional storage areas for collected volatiles, and even to provide a surface for collecting solar energy. It isn't totally a wasted exercise, even this far out.

An automated system of air-balancing will keep the volatiles at a proper pressure, tempered by a slowly shifting weight function to speed the rotation slightly as a means of reducing overpressure.

Hmm. I'm not explaining this well.

We're gathering extra air. As we do so, the weight affects our rotation speed. We use that to keep the pressure between specified limits. Air circulation is accomplished without mechanical systems by using differential heating to create warm spots and cool spots on a daily basis. That makes the air circulate.

If we have set things up properly, the Habitats will function as a miniature world, with systems able to respond without human action. In that way, even if the larger civilization collapses, small pockets of resilient and prepared communities will be able to continue.

Excuse me, but I have noticed a significant lack of diversity in the three habitats. We have formed a diversity council to reorganize the living arrangements until they are totally unlivable and diversity reigns.

No thanks necessary. Your taxes are thanks enough.
