When I was a kid all the kids on the block would play smear the queer. Someone would throw a ball straight up and we would all try to catch it and run around the yard until we got tackled. Then that guy would throw the ball, and repeat.

We played smear the q-word the same way. I always thought queer meant the guy with the football. Huh. Who knew?

Then that guy would throw the ball, and repeat. Even in the late 70's the name for the game was being changed to "Kill the Carrier".
