Writer Charles Mann’s two recent books cover this subject pretty well. They are “1491” and “1492.”
The first book deals with evidence of large population groups in Central and South America before the Spaniels arrived.
There are a lot of artifacts in central Texas. There is an Indian burial ground on the land I inherited from my family. I want to keep it preserved as best as possible. My older sister couldn’t understand why I wanted that part until I took her there and showed it to her.
There are also a lot near Georgetown. They have some areas fenced off with razor wire on top. The Corps of Engineers were real smart. They have signs at all the parks on Lake Georgetown that state “It is illegal to pick up artifacts”. What a better way to advertise..
