What you say is true. However, domestic infant adoption is always a bit risky even for regular folks. And if the birth family were to find out they'd given their child to Chelsea, she could have them hanging on to her for the rest of her life. An African adoption is more or less guaranteed and no birth family messiness to boot.

I'm giving Chelsea a pass on this one.

We've looked into fostering/adoption. My admittedly limited observation is that the adoption industry (and, to be sure, it is an industry) has been taken over by the same types of people that run schools, government and academia. It's dysfunctional, expensive, frustrating and bureaucratic, mostly to the disadvantage of the children whose interests are supposedly being served.

We haven't looked into foreign adoption, but I suspect that a little cash in the right places greases the wheels more easily than here in the U.S.
