Ian Anderson is a talented musician and amazing performer. Dance on the stage like a cat, and at the time he was a pack a day smoker.

Alice Cooper, not so good on the music (but not bad), but another outstanding performer. There are so many of them ;-) Zappa, I wonder what he'd be creating today. Santana.

Late 60's, early 70's was a revolutionary era for music. Went on pretty good through the 70's, from my point of view.

It was pretty much during this time that music as we know it today came into being. More-or-less started with the Beatles because they were the first mainstream band to write their own songs and where each member was equal (as opposed to the 50s where you had Elvis and the Jordanaires, Buddy Holly and the Crickets, etc).

Also the 60s saw the birth of rock journalism when magazines like Rolling Stone first appeared.

Maybe not the greatest music, but the greatest muscians in rock history were Emerson Lake, and Palmer. All three virtuosos. Modern era, Rush.
