I know this looks primitive, more so in winter. Let me tell ya what you're looking at....its a rain collection tub that runs water off the roof. A bit of soap, a scrub board and wringer and you've got a poor man's version of wash day...off the grid. I hate it. But it works. In the winter clothes are not washed. It's the apocalypse. Who cares how you smell?;(

We have a metal washtub, a glass scrubby board like my mom used to use, a rain barrel, but no wringer. However, you can put a vise grip thingy up on a good, stable stud, secure the laundered articles in the grip, and twist the article from bottom to top. I worked out with a body builder who used to twist the moisture out of her pool towel every day. Her forearms were awesome.
