Your quote from Jethro was in response to my post in which I mentioned the ownership of pets. And your quote does seem to refer to pets in their behaviors and attitudes.
But what I was referring to, was the ownership of us, as pets, by yet another entity. Perhaps a form of advanced computer entity.
I have come to the conclusion that, while becoming a "kept man" may sound intriguing initially, in the long run, it is not a good thing.
I have notes.
Oh, by the way, this is my version of your quote:
From The Cave
We stare morosely at the rain,
As we sit in the mouth of the den.
Therell be no game to flush,
No tracks to smell, so then
Its back into the labyrinth,
Where darkened comfort waits,
And soon enough, a meal appears,
On clean and shiny plates.
The animals who live here,
Accommodate our pack,
For we stand guard, protecting them,
Thats how we pay them back.

Well, you listen to, and speak to your feet. Do you understand them?
Talk to the floor...
Love your poems.
May we become the people our dogs think we are.
