My son didn’t call me. He sent a piccie of the crumpled truck via his cell phone, and the text said, “I think I’m OK, but the truck isn’t.”

He’s probably going to be sore, stiff, aches pain, walking like Frankenstein etc for the next couple days.
If the airbag and seatbelt did what they were supposed to he’ll probably be able to recall the smell and taste of airbag at will.
[It’s gross and somewhat disconcerting. It’s a burning smell that should not be. And your brain repeatedly shrieks that fact to you.]
If he’s taking pics of the vehicle he’s probably okay.
That sounds exactly like my *****. :-)
If he needs any medical attention, he’ll be getting it. Meanwhile he was able to text a picture to you, and now has to call the insurance company, fill out police reports, etc.
The way he’s thinking, as he’s told you about the accident, and that he’s OK, now he’s not worried about your worrying while he deals with the rest of the paperwork.
