For those who have read my stories on the Healer and the Retirement (from space) would you suggest I keep it up and look for someone to publish the occasional short story, or should I spend my excess time elsewhere? I have one other story written and one drafted in my head, and could probably write more.

This is the time for the honest opinion, not the friendly encouragement.

I see you managed to keep the blue stuff out of my neck of the woods, again. Thanks, Moose!

It will be a little cooler today, only reaching about 78 F (25 C) but that’s acceptable. I’ll just wear a sweater. ;o]

Look for someone who is willing to publish you. And don’t give up. If all else fails, check out “The Writer’s Market” at the library to get addresses.

You’re good.

I think you have a real gift for dialogue, but are not quite as strong on holding the narrative together so that one isn’t saying, “Now who was that? What’s going on again?” This could be a function of the UT serialization, of course, that wouldn’t be a problem in a printed text.

I went to the P.O. and mailed the tax returns. Vlad halped by licking the envelopes.

James needs an empty soup can for Cub Scouts. Now I need to find some volunteers to eat a bowl of Campbell’s Bean with Bacon!

Amazon is publishing new authors, a process which seems to be particularly successful through its Kindle division. If nothing else works, that might be an option for an unpublished author.

As I said, it all follows from the first visions. Does anyone remember whose bright idea it was to go into space in the first place?

Very helpful. It probably means I need more edits, as well as a separate editor. Since I have the story in my mind I often remember writing things I never wrote. When I do my editing I catch some of those, but separate editors are good at that as well. I have PDFs of both of those stories. FReepmail me if you want a copy.

For short stories I was thinking of checking out “The Writer’s Market” and looking for a periodical. That may be too old school.

I don’t often have empty soup cans, so I’m not much help for James.

Good luck on the volunteers!

Some of those unpublished authors on Amazon have some real gifts for constructing stories. Barnes & Noble does that as well, and I’ve read some very good stories on both of them.

James and Frank liked the Bean with Bacon.

42 and drizzly here, and it’s supposed to pour rain later. I was planning to take the Cub Scouts outside tonight to frisk on the lawns, look in the pond, and lurk in the bamboo forest, but that’s not going to happen. Instead, we’ll try setting Tom’s small tent up in the classroom and look at Snakes of North Carolina in the book and maybe work on identifying trees.

Last year I set up a bigger tent with the Wolf Cubs. That was approaching disaster until one of the boys figured out how the poles went together!

Good morning! Rainy, thundery, lightningy, humid here. I hope it's OK to post this. I tuned in to "Latest Articles" here, got caught up in Core Curriculum article, and the cartoon tickled the old funnybone. Love today's kitteh pick!

You PUNished me again. The pic is startling—looked like an ancient portable crucifixion device—took a bit to recall. Second cup of coffee hasn’t done it. Read in food fraud article that the caffeine-containing ingredients in coffee aren’t really there any more. Sounds believable. Only way to get a good jangle is Darks’ coffee. We need something akin to the Keystone to provide a coffee artery to needy individuals. Sweat equity will be necessary for program participation. I wish I could be more like you and JPB and say things with a picture. Since it takes me fifteen minutes to get things posted (not necessarily correctly), I resort to banality. Carry on, Splendid People!
