I always heard that a teardrop means you have killed someone.

It’s pretty sick to have a culture where that is something to advertise and be proud of.

It seems that is the usual meaning but there are a whole bunch of other ones depending on ‘cultures’ and countries, ranging from having a ‘bad’ childhood to having been raped in prison (I assume that one is not worn voluntarily!) to losing a loved one to the Australian meaning of child rapist.

Let me tell you, as a doctor I've seen many a jailhouse tattoo. Not sure what it exactly means. If the teardrop is for murder, then these guys are pretty young to have been released. Usually seen on Hispanic males.

Never seen it on any other ethnic or sexual group. I've heard it means: killed someone, had someone killed, lost someone in a murder, child molestor (chomo), or just someone who's doing time. But what do they ALL have in common?

Medicaid. State-paid insurance. Or no money at all.

I've never met a person with a teardrop tattoo that had private insurance. Meaning having a tax-paying job IOW.
