Prince comes out pretty good in the video, despite all the body gyrations, which many tend to confuse for brilliant guitar playing, and despite throwing the Fender at the end somewhere (into the audience?), and despite the song being a bit below his abilities, I mean a simple three chord thing, that for him looked like a piece of cake now worthy finishing, which is how I interpret the guitar tossing.

For brilliance, reference the original recording- on which the guitar was played by an uncredited (nobody did back then on albums) Eric Clapton (without gyrations and considerably more taste and tone— the guitar actually weeps and it isn’t crocodile tears).

In all humble opinion. Do like prince’s writing (manic monday, 1999, Little Red Corvette— all good tunes).
